LOOKING FOR DEDICATED ROLEPLAYERS!
Welcome one and all to Virtue of Fate! This is a realistic canine RPG with a twist. It's not just about the dogs anymore, or even the wolves. It's about all canines here, dogs, wolves, foxes, coyotes, and hybrids. It's about the constantly changing boundaries within packs, ranks, individual lives, and the instinct and untameable fight just to survive.
The board has just opened and we are looking for other dedicated roleplayers who want to dive in and be part of this adventure. There are many open ranks, including pack leader positions available. Not wanting to play a canine? There are also six slots for non-canine 'valley' creatures open. There's something here for everyone and we hope to see many of you involved. Thank you. --Raven

NOTICES: Aug. 19, 2008
Packs will get their pack name and the names of their ranks as soon as they have a leader. The leader will decide what they want their pack to be called and the the ranks names so long as it follows the heirarchy outline.

The wolf pack now has a leader, a pack name, and it's own rank names.
Please welcome the Apparitions, under the leadership of Tavari. The coyote/fox pack still doesn't have an official leader but the area is now patrolled by Casanova. The dog pack still doesn't have an official leader but the area is now patrolled by Requiem. The hybrid pack has a new leader, please welcome Havok. The pack is now called Abolevis, which is medieval latin for Outcast/Expel and will follow the default ranks for now. Please welcome Creme as your new moderator.

Zeke and Casanova you have an activity check, please reply by August 23rd or you will be removed from the ranks due to inactivity. Thank you.

.:Loyalty, honor, valor. Virtues of the heart that point us down the paths we tread. The forks, bends, and twists are many and yet each must trudge onward. Many different paws have come, all with their own secrets, hidden histories that echo across frozen muzzles and hide behind many dark eyes without a word.

.:Legend stated there would be four... All destined to coexist within the widly varying landscape on the coast of Oregon. The wolves' agression and untameable pride. The dogs' tattered human histories and flighty nature. The coyotes and foxes whose cunning and wit is well-spoken. And the hybrids' forbidden existance, whose intelligence and silence is their nature.

The land is warm and pleasant, often roused by a warm summer breeze. The surrounds are plentiful both in lush greenery and the many prey species that provide for the canines of the region. The nights are balmy and warm, often looked over by a clear star-studded sky. Sometimes there are days of seemingly unbearable heat, but for the most part the season has been steady and bright.

Outlands
	Borderlands JOINING FORUM Upon entering the landscape one might be confronted by the many acres of forest land on one side, the flat grassy plains and orchard, the jagged mountain range on the far side with it's deep caverns, and the old abandoned farmstead, all surrounding a deep central lake. Inlands
	Great Mirror [. The Lake .] In the very center of the four packlands the varying terrain gives way to graying rocks and old worn game trails that all lead to one place, the lake. Known to many of the creatures, the lake is a primary water source for many of the animals in the area. Based centrally to all of the packs' territories, it is rimmed wtih softly jutting stones and a soft silt-lined shore. On the far side a large cascading waterfall drains down from the plains and on the near side the smoothness of the coastline is only broken by a small stream that empties into the river. The falls themselves drop from a height of nearly twenty feet giving off a misty rainbow as they spill beautifully into the lake below. 	Silver Serpent [. The River .] Beginning with a small trickling stream from the falls at the base of the mountains, the creek widens out considerably into a flowing river. At points it is wide, dangerously rough with white-water rapids, and considered uncrossable. At other points it is so calm almost to the point of being still. These spots are prime for crossing and often lead to wonderful grazing lands, such as the orchard. The depth varies from point to point. The stiller points are often deeper and easy to swim across, while the rough portions are often shallower, yet still more dangerous with swift undertows and harsh currents. Care should be takin when swimming and crossing. The river is also a major prey outlet for the neighboring carnivores that reside in nearby with it's many fish.	0	0
	Silent Sentries [. The Orchard .] Long ago part of a vibrant and active farming family, the only thing remaining on the outskirts of the old farm, just outside of the domestic dogs' packlands is the orchard. Though half of the trees are long since dead, leaving nothing more than their skeletal statues looming on the horizing, the other half have since flourished with seasonal sweet-tasting fruit of many colors and varieties. During dusk the many neighboring forest creatures venture out of the trees into the orchard to nibble on the fallen fruits, ever wary for spying eyes and sharp teeth.	0	0
	Gaping Jaws [. The Caves.] To the far east tip of the mountains there is a small series of vast caves. Hollowed out by a great river the produced a monsoon flood long ago. The inner walls of the caves have been polished smooth over the years due to water and glacier movement. The glaciers have long since melted away and the caves are now a glittering spectacle for those who dare to venture into their depths. Glacier made holes in the rocks above filter in rare sunlight in a few select places. Mineral based rocks litter the cave floor and due to the moisture within soft mosses grow in in mity green fronds. The caves truly are an amazing sight but their twists and turns that lead deep under the mountains have been cause to the loss of many a creature who ventured in and could not find the way out.	0	0
	Broken Confinement [. The Abandoned Kennel .] Twisted wire, broken wood, and crumbling concrete are all that remains of what was once a bustling yet heavily guarded K-9 training facility. The building itself is deserted and beginning to crumble away in silence. On the inside the remnants of the past lay strewn about carelessly. Old documents, veterinary equipment, training supplies, and garbage litter counters and floors. Inside and outside hold the remnants of many chainlink kennels. Packlands
	Mournful Whispers [. The Forest .] .: Wolves .:. Home to the proud and often highly aggressive wolf pack. To the left of the Orchard the trees are many and close together. The thick needly soil shifts with the growing and spreading of wide roots as they mark their place among the forest. Wafting scents of the pines mingled with hardwood drift pleasantly between the widly swaying branches. The woods are teaming with life from the smallest mice to large predators, such as bear. Most of the wolves are fiercely proud of their wild heritage and pure-bloodedness. They don't take lightly to those of 'lesser' mixed blood, and many of them despise dogs. 	Forbidden Secrets [. The Mountains .] .: Hybrids :. Home of the misplaced and outcasted hybrids that resulted from taboo pairings (wolf/fox, coy/dog, etc.). Standing proudly over the falls are jagged silver and purple mountains. Vast snowcapped peaks dotted with pines surrounding a single central lush valley. The grayed rocks exhibit jagged outcroppings and sheer cliffs with dangerously harsh drop-offs. A few sparse alcoves and gulleys lead into brilliant caves. Only the sure-footed hybrids enter the mountains to see refuge, and any creature unsure of their footing would be better to find another means of adventure for fear of falling to their death. Though most vegetation is scarce, the mountainsides offer grip to sagebrush, a few small pools, and even dandilions, lavender, and other wild weeds. Due to their forbidden existance, the hybrids are outcasts from the world, and yet they are very sharp and use their intelligence to thrive. 	Vast Memories [. The Plains .] .: Coyotes/Foxes :. Home to the clever and mischievous coyote and fox pack. To the south of the forest, along the treeline, the land flattens out to a rugged plain. A wide open expanse of prickly hardy grasses with many unnamed wild flowers, and sparse weedy beds, bordered on the far side a few wild berry bushes that grow along a small stretch of the bank along the river. Many of the regions' birds of prey travel long distances to feed on the small, quick ground-feeding animals which find themselves mostly protected in the weed beds and wild flowers. The coyotes and foxes are the tricksters of the region who often use their cunning to outwit and outscheme the other packs to get what they want. Area patrolled by: Casanova	0	0
	Sacred Visions [. The Old Farm .] .: Dogs :. Home of the edgy and violently loyal domestic dog pack. The wind scarred sight of what was once a magnificent horse barn accompanying a quaint little broken down house are all that remains of what was once probably a glorious horse farm. The house itself is small with only a few rooms and a creaking staircase where the stray dogs can often be seen scouting for intruders. A basement makes for a fine nursery for the dogs' pups. The barn itself, though battered and ancient is still regal and beautiful. The stalls still stand firm and soft straw still lines the floor. Mice and rats, as well as pigeons and barn owls all take up residence in the sweet smelling building but take care to avoid the sharply snapping jaws and keen noses of the dogs.
